Physical Description

It has a raised neck and a medial keel terminating in a point at the waist which curves down to the centre and has a narrow flange. Plain inward turns. At either arm is a mushroom-headed stud for the shoulder straps. At either side of the waist is a large belt hook. At the left of the keel is a proof mark. Suspended between the mushroom headed studs is a length picture chain. Painted black.

Inscriptions and Marks

Struck at the neck with A within a fleur-de-lys for the maker, and crowned IR for the Arsenal of James II. Low at the right is an illegible element of a large circular mark, and inside incised X. Inside is stuck a label inscribed ':810000011'.
