Physical Description

Of the one-piece deep bellied type, with a medial keel. The neck opening is broad and flat. At either opening is a gusset, articulated by a rivet at the bottom, and a sliding rivet at the top, the latter with an external brass rosette washer. Each gusset has a rivet hole at the shoulder for the attachment of a shoulder strap. At the waist is a narrow flange, with a rivet at either side for the attachment of a fauld. The neck and gusset have pronounced inward turns, with shallow, asymmetrical embossed roping, and the neck has a narrow, sunken border. The subsidiary edges are bordered by single incised lines. All surfaces are painted black. The right shoulder is pierced for suspension.
