Physical Description

It is broad and deep with six embossed simulated lames each of which is decorated with a single incised line. The sides and lower edge have a plain inward turn accompanied by a recessed border in which are ten decorative rivets on the outer side, of which the third (possibly lining rivet) is missing; sixteen on the edge, of which the first, last and seventh have square internal washers and probably retained the first one has a square internal washer and probably also retained the lining band. There are three decorative rivets across each of the simulated lames forming columns which terminate in two circles, the inner one composed of ten rivets and the outer one of sixteen rivets. A hinged hasp was originally attached at either side by a rivet at the first and third lames. The right hasp which is original, has a long lower section cut with a rectangular middle section with three decorative rivets. The upper section is broken off. The left hasp is a later replacement, similarly cut, but of shorter proportions, and retained by a later upper rivet. The upper section is also missing. It is painted black overall. There is a crudely pierced hole on the second lame of indeterminate function.
