Physical Description

It is of large trapezoidal form, made in one piece, and embossed to simulate six lames. The sides and lower edge have a plain, inward turns accompanied by a recessed border containing seventeen round-headed brass rivets with circular washers retaining much of the canvas lining band. The tasset is decorated with three columns of round headed brass rivets; each column formed of a single rivet at the upper edge of each simulated lame, except the last, which has three at the base. A considerable part of the upper edge is missing. At either side of the centre is a rivet hole, and above the inner one, the remains of a horizontal pair of holes, for the attachment of the missing hinged hasps. It is painted black.
