Physical Description

It is of trapezoidal form, made in one piece, and embossed to simulate six lames. The sides and lower edge have plain, inward turns with recessed borders. Each simulated lame is decorated at its upper edge with a single, incised line. The tasset is decorated with three columns of round-headed iron rivets; each column formed of a singled rivet at the upper edge simulated lame, except the last which has three rivets in a triangular formation. To either side of the central column a hinged hasp is attached by a single round headed iron rivet on the first lame, and has a square internal washer. The lower end of each hasp widens slightly towards its obtusely pointed terminal. The shorter upper end of the inner hasp has a rounded terminal and is pierced with the central hole for attachment to a breastplate. The upper end of the outer hasp is missing, although the hinge-pin to retain it is preserved.
