It is formed of an inner and an outer plate, the latter fitting inside the former. The plates are joined at the rear by a pair of slightly decorated external hinges. They were fastened at the front by a stud on the inner plate which engaged a hiole on the outer. At the inside and outside centre are rivet holes for the attachment of a strap and buckle.
The upper edge of the outer plate is pierced with three holes at the front and two at the rear for the attachment of internal leathers.
The exterior is bright but patinated. The lower hinge is attached by only one rivet.
