Physical Description

Made in one piece, with a narrow opening at the rear. It is shaped to the elbow, expands into a broad heart-shaped wing at the front, and has a pucker where it curves round the inside of the arm. The upper and lower edges have roped inward turns, accompanied on the wing by a recessed border. A roped transverse ridge rund from behind the point of the elbow to the start of the pucker. At the centre front is a vertically aligned of the elbow to the start of the pucker. At the centre front is a vertically aligned pair of brass-headed rivets with square internal washers retaining fragments of a connecting leather. At the centre rear is a rivet with a round external washer which retains on the inside fragments of a second connecting leather. A pair of vertically aligned rivet holes on each side edge are probably a later attempt to close the couter. The upper and lower edges have each been pierced with two small wiring-holes.
