Physical Description

TThe breastplate has a low neck and a medial keel terminating in a point at the wasit, which dips down to the centre and has a deep flange. The neck, arm and flange edges have plain inward turns, bordered at the neck and arms with single incised lines, and with recessed borders at the flange sides. At either side of the chest is a plain iron swivel back and pierced stud for the shoulder strap.
Each tasset is quite short and trapezoidal, in one piece and embossed to simulate six lames. The lower corners are rounded at the outside and angular at the inside. The side and lower edges have plain inward turns with recessed borders. The upper edges of the embossed lames are (probably) bordered by a single incised line. Each tasset is decorated with three columns of rivets, terminating in an upward pointing triangle of rivets at the base. The upper inside corner of the right tasset is cropped for the overlap. East tasset is permanently attached by two hings hasps. The outer one on the right tasset is rounded at the top and trefoil shaped at the bottom, where it has two rivets and one missing rivet; the inner one is rounded at the top and , a large, roundheaded rivet by which it is attached to the flange and a small, decorative rivet below, and pointed at the bottom where it is attached by two rivets, the upper one with a washer and in a slot. Both hasps on the lerft tass4et are attached by a large rivet at the top and a pair at the bottom. The outer hasp is pointed at the top and bottom, while the inner is rectangular with corpped corners at the top and pointed at the bottom.
It is painted black. The breastplate has pierced suspension holes at either shoulder and armpit. The left tasset has a large dent at the lefyt of centre.
