Physical Description

It has a low neck, is round-shouldered and has an even flange at the waist. The main edges have plain, inward turns bordered by single incised lines. At either shoulder is a restored shoulderstrap covered with four scales: a lobed upper scale, two square scales and a pointed terminal plate with a single keyhole slot; each is attached by four rivets to the strap, the upper ones by two rivets to the backplate. The scales appear to be original (if not to this backplate). Low at either side of the waist is a restored waist strap and buckle. At the right of the flange is a pierced hole for the missing suspension hook.
The exterior is bright but patinated. At the left shoulder are three additional rivet holes for earlier shoulder straps and at the right, four.
