Physical Description

The head has eight scalloped flanges and a lotus bud finial. The haft is of steel, with moulded decoration. The hilt is of khanda (basket) form, with the edges of the knuckle bow having serrated edges and with a deep lotus pommel and a curved spike terminating in a lotus bud. The hilt has its original lining of crimson velvet, and the tab-like suspension loop of the same material is attached to the top of the guard by a gilt loop. The main edges are bordered by floral ornament in gold koftgari.
