Physical Description

Made in one piece and clsed at the rear by an inward overlapping joint secured by two externally flush rivets. It is shaped to the elbow, expands into a heart-shaped wing at the front and has a pucker where it curves around the inside of the arm. The upper and lower edges have boldly roped inward turns accompanied, on the wing and the rear of the pucker, by a recessed border. A boldly roped transverse ridge, bordered above and below by deep grooves, rund from behind the point of the elbow, to the beginning of the pucker. At the centre front there is a vertically aligned pair of externally flush rivets which retain a fragment of the internal connecting leather. There is a single externally flush rivet with a square external washer at the rear of the transverse rib which previously retained a second connecting leather. The upper and lower edges have been crudely pierced, just to the front and the reat of the point of the elbow, for later-wiring holes.
