Physical Description

A standard Mauser anti-tank rifle conforming to the pattern for this gun. The upper flat of the bolt lever is stamped 5813, the underside with a crowned eagle and a crowned motif. The bolt release catch is stamped with the same crowned motif and 6996. The forward strap of the trigger guard is stamped with the crowned motif and 6996, the trigger guard retaining screw is stamped with the crowned motif and 96. The barrel is stamped on the rear breech band with the Mauser trade mark, which is on top, the crowned motif and a crowned K on the right, and a mark and 6996 on the left. The middle breech band is stamped on the right with three crowned Ks and on the left with a crowned eagle and 6996, and on top with 1301. The forward breech band has no markings but carries the rear sight, which has an illegible mark and the number 996. The rear most portion of the barrel is stamped on the left 6996. The barrel band for the bipod mounting is stamped on the left 6996 and on the right with a crowned 3. The fore-sight slide is stamped 96.
