Physical Description

This is made in two pieces joined in a low comb and on the medium-width brim. The main edge has a plain inward turn bordered by a single incised line and 16 round-headed lining rivets with square washers, of which one is missing at the front. Around the base of the skull are 14 rivets, two at either side retaining the bases of the cheekpiece leathers, the rest decorative. At the rear of the skull are two rivets, one retaining the base of the plume holder. There is an additional hole in the edge at the front.
