Purchased from the Great Exhibition, 1851. and formerly XV.252. Transferred to the B.M. in 1913 and returned in 1954.

Physical Description

Comprising a long slender blade with a reinforced point, the sides chiselled with conventional foliage. The socket is in the form of a monsters head from which the blade emerges, below which it is moulded and facetted. The whole blade and socket is decorated with overlay in gold. The shaft is of painted wood, the shoe being missing.
