Physical Description

Normal convex lockplate engraved with Royal Cypher and TOWER. Runner-bar. The butt bears storekeeper's and Board of Ordnance stamps while a mark, T. P under a star appears by the screw-plate.
Ramrod similar to that fitted to No. XII.160. The carbine is intended to take a bayonet Attatched to carbine.

Elliott's carbines are a modified version of the carbine designed by General George Elliott, later Lord Heathfield, when commanding the 15th Light Dragoons. (c.f. No.159). The pattern of which No 165 is an example was approved in 1773 and was still in production forty years later.
