Physical Description

Blacked all over with a polished steel hammer. The barrel, cylinder, frame and backstrap are inlaid in gold. Two hard rubber grips are fitted. The left side of the barrel is engraved: God created man - Col. Colt made them equal. the frame is engraved: 1 of 1000. The right side of the barrel is engraved: Colt Single Action Army - .44 - 40 Cal.
The backstarp is engraved in script: Col. Sam Colt.
Case: The oak case is lined in grey velvet and fitted into it is a spare un engraved cylinder and a commemorative nail set in resin, it says: Removed from Colt Armorers' Residences during 1981 restoration. Hartford, Conn. - circa 1850
