Physical Description

Typical NATO Trials build standard for the EM-2. Conversion to .30-06 consists of: Specially manufactured bolt of even greater length and mass than the later 7.62 x 51 mm variant (but with identical bolt face). New chamber. Receiver lengthened in two places (magazine well and rear end of receiver) by means of cutting, infilling with portions of another receiver, and seam welded. The gas piston has been similarly lengthened. The magazine itself is a .280 example that has been likewise split, infilled with part of another magazine, and then tack-welded together. The UNIT optical sight is missing, but its protector is in place.
