Physical Description

Fitted with swan-necked cock. Stocked to within 4 1/4 in. of muzzle. Brass furniture. The original browned finish remains. Ramrod missing. Swivels missing. Brass fore-end cap missing. Stock damaged in area of 1st pipe and split in area of 2nd and 3rd pipes

Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped in centre of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow and crown over crossed sceptres, and on left with three-pointed open crown over [IG] (i.e. crown over IG, the IG missing but probably rubbed away). Stamped on right by pan: ?, and on tang: crown. Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and FARMER 1759, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Cock, buttplate heel and sideplate stamped: 0. Sideplate flat may have a mark.Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark. Underside of butt to right of guard stamped with crown over crown over ?Ramrod groove: front section (front to rear) stamped: crown over ?, crown over ?, crown over ?; rear section: \/ ///
