Old Tower Collection. Previously catalogued under the 1909 Dillon sequence as XII.34 and before that under the 1859 Hewitt (or Old War Office sequence) as XII.60. Therfore was in the collection prior to 1859.

Physical Description

Barrel octagonal at the breech altering to round section with fore-sight and V backsight. A mark is stamped at the breech and the number 8 on the breech strap. Lock with external wheel. The lockplate has the lower edge curved to the shape of the wheel and is stamped with a mark. Stock with round-ended shoulder-butt fitted with a runner-bar and ring on the left side. A safety-catch is mounted on the trigger-plate locking the trigger when pushed forward. Steel trigger-guard with plain finger-rest.
