Variations, losses, damage, etc: a few minor edge-nicks to blade, one deeper one 165 mm from tip.

Inscriptions and Marks

On hilt, near base of knuckle-guard, stamped: 4 over DG over G over 66 (the 4 over DG indicating 4th Dragoon Guards).On blade, on outside, near hilt, stamped: a crested helmet (the mark of Kirschbaum of Solingen).On blade, on inside, near hilt, stamped: crown over 7.
