Inscriptions and Marks

Barrel stamped on left of breech with crowned GR over Broad Arrow and crown over crossed sceptres. Stamped on right by pan: crown over 18, and on tang: crown over [15] (i.e. crown over 15, the number half off edge) . Lockplate engraved with royal cypher and TOWER, and stamped with crown over Broad Arrow. Sideplate flat stamped: IF , possibly 41, another possible mark . Butt stamped on right with Ordnance storekeeper's mark and 1800. Underside of butt to right of guard stamped twice with crown over 1[6] (i.e. crown over 16, the 6 uncertain on upper mark and possibly 5 on lower mark). Ramrod groove: middle section: crown over ?, crown over 15, crown over ? ; rear section: \/I ; [II]S (i.e. IIS, could be HS or RS) Ramrod stamped: crown; partial mark, could be IG; [\/]H (i.e. VH, the V uncertain); VI
