Physical Description

The helmet is made in two parts, joined by rivets at the brim and in a low comb, which widens at the crown, over the bowl. The brim is broard and curves down at either side. The main edge is inwardly turned over wire with a sunken border originally containing thirty-five brass lining rivets with square internal washers, of which none are missing. The bowl is bordered at the brim and comb by double incised lines above the rivets, and at the brim by twenty brass lining rivets, of which none at the right and none at the left have square internal washers. At the rear a plume holder of obliquely truncated conical form, which has three holes drilled up the front of it, attached by two rivets, on pointed lateral extensions,


The cheekpieces are held by replacement leather. The one on the right is a modern replacement. The outside is bright, the inside painted black.
