Physical Description

The helmet is made in two parts, joined by rivets at the brim and in a low comb, which widen at the crown, over the bowl. The brim is broard and curves down at either side. The main edge is inwardly turned over wire with a sunken border originally containing twenty-seven brass lining rivets with square internal washers, of which three are missing. The bowl is bordered at the brim and comb by double incised lines passing through the lining rivets, and at the brim by sixteen brass lining rivets, five are missing, of which one at the left left has a square internal washers. At the rear a plume holder is attached by two rivets. Missing cheekpieces. The linig rivets retain small fragments of hessian. There is one drilled hole in the comb. The outside is bright, the inside painted black.
