Physical Description

One-piece almond-shaped skull with 'pear-stalk' at apex and flat brim with narrow countersunk border and roped inward turn. Thirteen of the original fourteen brass-capped lining rivets survive encircling the base of the skull; seven of which retain part or all of their original decorated copper alloy washers. The rear of the skull has been pierced with two holes for the attachment of a missing plume holder.At the rear at the base of the skull there is a shallow indentation of around 25mm in length and a maximum width of 3.5mm. The rear of the brim has been pierced with a hole for suspension.
