Physical Description

With cog mark. Bill of typical Italian form, with hook above obtuse-angled edge, backed by a spike and and two opposed spikes at base of blade. The blade has two langets each with 3 nails to secure it to the wooden haft. Both appear to be split from the socket but ?brased. The tip of the blade is slightly bent. There is a long shallow gouge in the haft below the socket. The haft is split at the lower end and secured (to an additional piece?) by a screw each side. A long nail protrudes from the butt.
