Physical Description

Barrel of round section the foresight of block form to act as a stop for a socket bayonet. Breech stamped with Ordnance proof and maker's marks the last repeated on the underside. Lock with flat, ring-necked cock and dog-catch (the latter missing) the steel with square outline to the upper edge. Lockplate engraved with the monogram of Queen Anne. Other marks are stamped on the inner side of the lockplate.
Stock with brass mounts, the trigger-guard pierced for a sling loop as is the fore-end, the latter finishing short of the muzzle to allow for the bayonet socket. Government property and viewer's marks are stamped on the butt. The ramrod with steel tip is possibly original
