Physical Description

Of short waisted form, with cut-out at the neck, narrow shoulders, a medial ridge and a deep flange at the waist. The edges of the neck and arm openings and of the waist flange have plain inward turns. The neck and arm openings are bordered by single incised line decoration. The sides of the waist flange have recessed borders, and a recessed vertical strip runs down the centre of the flange from below the peascod. At either side of the chest is a hole for the missing swivel hook that engaged the pierced stud to the outside of it that originally held the shoulder straps from the backplate.
Each tasset is attached to the flange by two hinges, the hasps pointed at the bottom and top, being attached to the flange by a large flattened rivet on the upper hasp and to the tasset by two smaller rivets vertically aligned on the lower hasp. There are 4 rivet holes along the lowest edge of the flange. The left tasset has an additional rivet hole by the lowest outside hinge and 2 by the inside hinge. The right has 2 additional holes by the lowest outside hinge and one by the inside hinge.
The tassets are each of one piece, the main edges of which have inward turns accompanied by a recessed border within which the left tasset has 15 holes for the missing lining rivets, the right tasset 16 holes. The upper right corner of the right tasset is cut obliquely for the passage of the left tasset. Each tasset is embossed to simulate 7 lames, the lowest being deeper than the rest. Each simulated lame is bordered by single incised line decoration. Each lame is bordered at the incised line by a decorative rivet at the centre and at each side, forming 3 columns which terminate at the seventh lame in a triangular pattern of 3 rivets. On the left tasset all rivets on the first lame and missing, and an additional hole below the innermost one is filled by a flush rivet. On the 2nd lame the outer and centre rivet are each fitted internally with a square washer, as is the centre rivet on the 6th lame. On the right tasset the first lame has the outer and inner rivet missing, and the 2nd lame has the inner rivet missing. On the 2nd lame all 3 rivets are fitted internally with square washers; on the 4th lame the centre and inner rivet are each fitted with a square washer.
It is bright externally and internally rough from the hammer.
