Physical Description

Made in one piece, it has a large circular hole at the apex. The lower edge has six scalloped projections, alternately long and short, each of which has three scallops at either side. The bottom lobe of one of the long projections has broken off.
It is painted black overall.

This group of spider-type secrets have all been made to a set pattern and have been formed by pressing over or into a form/mould, suggesting a later 17th century or earlier 18th century date.
