Physical Description

Black horn grip in one piece rather than as two scales. It is fastened to the blade by two bud shaped rivets that pass through washers shaped like eight petalled flowers. Both rivets and washers are decorated with gold overlay. Wide blade of lozenge section having an off-set fuller each side. The front is decorated with floral panels, swirls, cartouches and a bird in gold overlay. The wooden scabbard is covered in front with red velvet onto which has been glued blue velvet strips in a criss-cross pattern. At the back it is covered in brown granular leather. There is an iron locket having the loop for suspension on the left, decorated with gold overlay, and a small iron button.

Dimensions: The overall length of the sword is 1045 mm, the length of the blade being 820 mm. Weight: The weight of the sword is 0.955 kg.
