Physical Description

The blade is single edged and slightly curved, widening towards the point. The back has a medial ridge. The hilt is composed of a long, tapering grip covered in silver, with a conical pommel, mouldings and a ferrule which expands into a vestigial guard. The latter have lotus petal borders. The scabbard is of wood covered in crimson velvet, with a square chape and locket decorated with flowers and foliage.


Dimensions: length: in scabbard 108 cm (42.6 in), overall length: 102 cm (40.3 in), blade length: 64 cm (25.3 in) Weight: The weight of the sword is 0.98 kg, the weight of the scabbard being 0.302 kg.
