Physical Description

The shield is large and circular, formed of translucent hide. The border andd centre are painted with a pattern of green and red dots outlined with white dots. There are four copper bosses chiselled and heavily gilt. Above these is a circular ornament decorated with a bird surounded by a border of flowers and monsters' heads. Inside is a suqare pad covered with green velvet, and two matching hand grips. There is a permanently attached red velvet sling, embroidered in gold orris thread with a floral scroll.
