Provenance

Physical Description

Of brass, it commences as a cylinder then tapers to end in a convex sided ring. The latter has a threaded hole at its centre and passes through to the other end which is recessed. In the centre of the base of the recess is a disc, the outer edge of which is turned up to form a rim. The disc is held in place by two diametrically opposed screws passing through from the outside of the cylinder.


Condition on acquisition: Some surface tarnishing and corrosion.

Inscriptions and Marks

The outerside face of the cylinder has an incised line at its top and base.
