Provenance

Formerly XXVIS.179. That number was appropriated for a Saif obtained from Major White. This sword was found in the Lanthorn Tower in Jan 1989. Probably Old Tower Collection.

Physical Description

The straight, double edged blade is inserted into two semi-circles of wood held in place with a band of metal. The gauntlet hilt is made of wood in the form of a face with an open mouth. The inside of the mouth is painted red. Painted black stripes cover the cuff and the hilt reprsenting a tiger. Around the head there are two ridges. On the cuff there is a medial ridge. The gauntlet is carved from a single piece of hollow wood with the grip bar riveted in to place.

Dimensions: The length of the blade is 795 mm. The overall length is 1230 mm. Weight: The weight of the sword is 1.555 kg.
