Physical Description

Long straight double edged blade swelling towards the point like a khanda. The hilt is of iron and riveted to the blade by means of the langets and an additional strip that has been fastened under them to extend them. The Guard is in the form of two rounded plates with notches on each side joined into a V shaped. These are welded to the langets and to two downturned and pointed arms within which is a brass ring bent into a V shape. The iron grip is slightly swollen in the centre and terminates in a cup shaped pommel.

Dimensions: The length of the blade is 815 mm, the overall length is 915 mm. Weight: The weight of the sword is 0.925 kg.

Inscriptions and Marks

The blade is stamped MA 2464 and has 17/91 painted on in white.
