Physical Description

The blade is slender and double edged, widening very slightly towards the point. At the hilt the medial ridge is bordered by two hollow ground sections. The blade has a separate ganja at the hilt, cusped at the edge and decorated with floral ornament at the back. At the junction of the blade and hilt is a silver mendaq decorated with incised floral ornament. The hilt is of ebony carved with a stylised kingfisher pommel. The scabbard is of wood with an ebony wrangka. There is a shaped section at the base for the missing chape.

Dimensions: The overall length of the sword is 530 mm, the length of the blade being 435 mm. The length of the scabbard is 470 mm. Weight: The weight of the sword is 0.25 kg, the weight of the scabbard being 0.1 kg.
