Physical Description

Comprising a kukri, scabbard and six bye-knives.


The blade is forward curved and single edged; the back is bordered for part of its length by a pair of fullers, and the edge has a notch containing a small projection, at the forte. The hilt comprises a horn grip flaring to the pommel, where it has a brass cap, and a bone section at the guard covered with a brass ferrule. The grip is incised with zigzags and a band of acanthus, the pommel cap with radial grooves, and th ferrlue with hatching. The wooden scabbard is covered with leather with a seam at the back. The front is tooled with a diaper, and at the throat is a tarcery leather panel over red fabric. At the back are seven leather pouches for bye-knives and accessories.
