Physical Description

Of considerable weight and intended to be fired from a support.
Barrel octagonal at the breech then round,the flats of the octagonal portion having shallow sunken panels extending almost their entire length. The foresight is mounted on a moulding at the muzzle, the backsight being tubular and chiselled with a grotesque bearded face.
Two marks are stamped on the underside of the breech, one illegible the other possibly the control mark of Lucerne.
Lock of scear-lock type with dragon-shaped match-holder. Stock with short, heavy, sharply down-curved butt the whole inlaid with lines and plaques of stag-horn the latter engraved with military trophies.
The ramrod groove is open for it's entire length.
Rod missing. Trigger restored
