Physical Description

Broad blade with two large upturned lugs at the base. Tapering decagonal socket with a moulding at top and bottom; two langets. The blade, except for the point is lightly etched; on each face of the lower section is a tower in Neo-Classical style.Modern haft covered with red velvet tassel of gold thread.

Inscriptions and Marks

The lower part of the blade bearing a defaced inscription: Obverse: SELLEN....L...GE ......NT ...R (ie. SELENT (sic) LEGES INTER ARNA), Reverse: P (?R) C G (?) ......1 DEC.Between the lugs is a defaced design of two cannons surrounded by volutes of foliage.
