Physical Description

The mouthpiece is formed of two bars linked to each other in the centre and to the cheeks at the outer ends. The cheeks have openings for the rein behind the mouthpiece pivots and are continued forwards in two decorative loops, one partly missing. Narrow iron strips are looped to the rein openings, originally two on each side one now missing, which attached to the straps at the headstall. The bit has a dark, excavated patina.
