Physical Description

Lock

Is of miquelet type, with simple geometric decoration inlaid by making a series of triangular cuts and filling them with copper.

Stock

The slender wooden full stock is entirely covered in sheet brass that shows traces of gilding where it has been protected. On the butt, the covering is simply but carefully engraved with foliage and fish like monsters on a punched ground. That covering the fore end is crudely punched and is obviously a later repair. There are 5 capucines, showing traces of the older engraving, the rearmost carrying the brass back sight. There is a simple brass triggerguard.

Barrel

Is octagonal going to round with no trace of a moulding remaining. At the muzzle there is a slight swelling with again to trace of a moulding.
