Provenance

Excavated from the bed of the Thames at Queenhithe. Found in the west of the dock, 14 yards east of column 3/4 at a depth of 5 feet on 29/04/1978

Physical Description

The iron tang is a flattened, elongated, trapezoid section and heavily corroded towards the bottom where the it has broken. The tang bears traces of the wooden grip on one side. The quillons and blade are missing completely. The pommel is also of iron, is domed and sectioned into 6 shallow lobes. The underside of the pommel is slightly concave.
