Provenance

Excavated from the bed of the Thames at Queenhithe in April 1978, on the east side of the dock at a depth of 4.5 feet

Physical Description

The tang is triangular and slightly warped, tapering down towards the pomel. The vandyked pommel cap is retained on the tang. A small wooden guard sits at the base of the blade, topped by a copper alloy washer. The blade is triangular in section, double edged and tapering towards the point. There is a copper alloy mark inlayed on the blade.
