Transferred from Bristol City Museum in 1966, replacing Benin Currency spear formerly VIII.62 disposed of by sale in 1966.

Physical Description

Consists of two flamboyant blades springing from a base plate chiselled with foliage and enclosing a shaped cartouche that shows traces of foliage in gold overlay. The socket is long and narrow and decorated with longitudinal bands of running foliage in silver overlay.
