Physical Description

Tapering socket with three raised bands. Wooden haft covered with old, decayed fabric. Two langets, each with 5 nails.

Notes

Described in the 18th century as 'The Spanish General's Halbert', a part of the Armada spoils. This attribution was discarded by Meyrick in 1825. Correspondance about the identification of the arms is preserved in the Public Record Office, Ref. W.O 44/302.
