Physical Description

The blade is double edged, with one straght edge and one double-curved, producing a long, thin off-centre point. It has a slight medial; ridge. The hilt is waisted, formed of a single piece of horn slotted for the tang and attached to it by three iron rivets. Around the centre is a band of gold alloy, embossed with a petalled design within a circle bordered with pearling. The scabbard is of wood covered with silver. It is bound at the throat with twisted silver wire, and at the chape with plain silver wire. The front is tooled around its edges, leaving a plain oval at the centre.

Inscriptions and Marks

The blade is engraved with a maker's inscription within a rough circle ''amal Tayib Hawad', under which is another inscription.
