Physical Description

The sword has a curved single edged blade that swells out before the point. The back edge near the point is waved. The base of the blade is welded to a rough iron socket with a lapped joint and a hole near the upper end. At the junction of the blade and hilt a quillon of square section is attached that runs horizontal before turning downwards and outwards. On the opposite side is a knucklebow, the end of which is turned down into the socket.

Dimensions: The length of the blade is 510 mm, the overall length of the sword being 665 mm. Weight: The weight of the sword is 1 kg.

Notes

The quality of the blade is higher than that of the hilt. The fact that the hilt is formed as a slightly tapering socket suggests that it may have been made by modifying a staff weapon.
