Purchased at auction, Sotheby's, 16 December 1980 lot 337. From the Major A D F White collection.

Physical Description

Formed entirely of metal. The haft is straight and round-section, with a cuboid pommel with bevelled corners. The top of the haft is flattened and pierced with a round hole. Attached through the hole is a chain of three large, plain metal rings; two further loose rings are attached through the third ring, alongside a faceted lanceolate spike. The piece is bright but patinated.
