Physical Description

The upper part of the head comprises a tapering flamboyant spear blade of flatterend lozenge section with blunt edges. Below this the blades necks into an octagonal bar into which are morticed S shaped supports for the two crescent shaped side-blades. The side-blades have the ends shaped with waved edges. Immediately below the side-blades is a complex multifacetted moulding, then an octagonal section, a further moulding and then the tapering socket. The blade is fitted to a round shaft of stained wood fitted with a brass collar at the butt.

Dimensions: length: overall 2583 mm (101.6 in), Head length: 992 mm (39 in), the central blade being 465 mm long, the sideDSblades being 245 mm long and 230 mm across the width. Weight: The weight of the spear is 3.7 kg.
