Purchased at auction from Messrs Oxenham's, 21st and 22nd July 1842.

Physical Description

Octagonal Barrel with foresight and tubular backsight. A maker’s mark is stamped on either side of the breech and under the backsight, the top flat being incised with the letter A. Pan with pivoted cover and flash-guard. Lock of similar type to those of the three preceding examples. Stock with butt of cheek-butt form but of sufficient length to reach the shoulder. The right side of the butt is stamped or branded with an eagle displayed while between the lock-screws is the letter A. In addition, both sides of the butt are incised with a marking of uncertain nature. Ramrod possibly original. Trigger restored.
