Physical Description

Of Iron, in excavated condition. Disc pommel with chamfered edges. Faceted button (much corroded). Plain broad tang and short tapering quillons, slightly down-sloping. Evenly tapering two-edged blade, with rounded tip. with a broad fuller extending almost the full length. Inlaid in brass on one face are two shields each bearing a ?running lion; on the other there is a cross in circle, another lion on shield, and a circular device.
